DONATIONS
There are many different ways to support our work – from donating cash, gifts in kind and time.
In whichever way you want to get involved, know that you are making a valuable contribution to the nation’s mental health – as well as helping to support those who have a mental diisability.

DONATE TO SUPPORT
- Needs of the Organisation and how to contribute as a sponsor
- Make a cash donation – with a direct deposit OR via debit order facility. Please send proof of your deposit so that we can thank you for your kind donation and issue a receipt.
- Donate gifts in kind – particularly any item from our Wish List page;
Sponsorship
- This method of sponsorship can be person based and it allows you to specify where the money goes.

- You would be providing support to our cause by meeting the needs of our Service Users. This is our priority and with your help it will make an incredible impact in the lives of persons with disabilities. A Section 18 A receipt will be issued on request and is a great tax incentive! We would love you to come and visit the facilities by appointment and see where your money is going and the difference you make!
Leave a Bequest in your Will
- Leave a Bequest in your Will to Pietermaritzburg Mental Health :
- When you draw up your Will, have you ever considered making a charitable bequest? Your contribution may have a vital impact in improving our service users’ quality of life. You may think that you have nothing much to leave. But if you take into account the value of your home, furniture, motor vehicle, life insurance and so on, the total may surprise you!
- TYPES OF BEQUESTS
- A specific sum of money or item (such as your home or vehicle). Makes no allowance for the effects of inflation or changes in the value of your estate. If you choose this type of bequest, you to need review your Will regularly to make sure you are not giving away money or items you no longer possess.
- A percentage. This ensures a fair distribution amongst all your beneficiaries, regardless of any changes in the value of your estate.
- The residue (or a percentage of it). The residue is what is left over after funeral expenses, taxes and other bequests have been paid. You can leave the entire residue to a single beneficiary, or apportion it among several beneficiaries.
- A Life Insurance Policy - this can be ceded to an organisation like Pietermaritzburg Mental Health. Or you could take out a new policy, naming Pietermaritzburg Mental Health as the beneficiary.
- Charitable bequests are exempt from tax and can help reduce estate duty, as they are deducted from the value of your estate before tax is calculated. Please consult a qualified professional – an accountant, financial planner or attorney. If you have already made a bequest to our organisation, please do let us know, as we prefer to have the chance to say a discreet thank you now, rather than thank your executors later.
